How the Legend Commenced
This English brand got its name from the founders’ Sir Frederick Henry Royce and Charles Stewart Rolls. The duplicated letter R on the logo is the capital letters of their surnames.
There is also a legend that Mr. Rolls saw the intercrossed letters RR painted on a tablecloth in one of the restaurants and immediately bought it. Initially, the letters were depicted in red, but over time, in 1933, it was changed to black. They were considered to be more presentable and traditional.
One more recognizable symbol is the statue of the Spirit of Ecstasy or the Flying Lady of Ecstasy located on the car’s hood. There are some legends associated with its appearance. How Is Rolls Royce Produced?
Rolls-Royce prides itself on the excellence of its production. A new plant was opened in 2003 in Goodwood when BMW took over the brand. It looks more like an ordinary two-story office made of glass and steel: engines, gearboxes, chassis, and many other components of Rolls-Royce are produced in Bavaria. There is no moving conveyor, which is customary for large automobile plants. At all stages of production, automobiles are assembled manually by team workers.
At each stage, only 75 minutes are given to the brigade for everything, and if someone hesitates, the workers of the neighboring stand come to the rescue. In Goodwood, they practically produce all vehicles according to the clients’ wishes. So cribs are hanging on the frames.
