For a longer Miami stay, the lowest displayed daily rate is not always the lowest cost for your actual dates. A weekly proposal and a monthly proposal may use different rental periods, mileage allowances and extension conditions. Compare the same journey before deciding which rate looks better.
This is a comparison worksheet, not a price list. Start with Budget Cars for everyday vehicle options or the luxury collection for a different type of trip. Request the full terms for the specific car; do not carry one category's discount formula into another.
Put exact dates and times into both requests
The existing weekly rental page and monthly rental page are the places to explore those options. Use the worksheet below to compare the proposals you receive for the same car.
“About a month” is not enough for a fair comparison. Send the collection date and time, return date and time, locations, passenger count and approximate mileage. Mention if your departure date is uncertain.
Ask what “month” means in that proposal and how partial periods are charged. A calendar month, a stated number of days and four weeks are not interchangeable. Also ask whether changing the return date causes the whole rental to be recalculated or adds an extension at another rate.
Use the same cost worksheet
| Line | Weekly proposal | Monthly proposal |
|---|---|---|
| Exact rental period | Dates, times and total days | The same dates and times |
| Base rental | Written amount | Written amount |
| Included mileage | Total allowance for the period | Total allowance for the period |
| Excess mileage | Rate and estimated excess, if any | Rate and estimated excess, if any |
| Required charges | Taxes and mandatory fees | Taxes and mandatory fees |
| Chosen extras | Delivery or other requested options | The same requested options |
| Deposit | Amount and payment arrangement | Amount and payment arrangement |
| Change conditions | Early return and extension terms | Early return and extension terms |
Keep the deposit visible but separate from the rental expense. A refundable hold is not the same thing as a fee, although it still matters to the funds you need available. Confirm the actual payment and release terms with the team.
Turn mileage into a comparable number
Estimate a normal week's driving, then add longer trips you already expect to make. Compare that estimate with each proposal's total allowance. Ask whether unused mileage can be carried across the rental period rather than assuming the allowance works that way.
For a purely hypothetical example, a 28-day rental costing $1,400 has a base cost of $50 per day. A 30-day rental costing $1,560 has a base cost of $52 per day. Those calculations do not establish which offer is better until both cover your actual dates, mileage and required charges. These are sample numbers, not Pugachev rates.
The FTC's rental-car guide recommends checking the full cost and applicable fees. In your own comparison, also keep variable travel spending—parking, tolls and fuel or charging—on a separate line so it is not mistaken for an included benefit.
Compare flexibility, not only arithmetic
If you may finish a work assignment early, ask how an early return affects the total. If you may stay longer, ask when an extension must be requested and whether the same vehicle can remain available. Neither an extension nor a price adjustment should be assumed.
For a rental lasting several weeks, agree whom to contact about a warning light, a service question or a change of plans. Ask whether any scheduled check is expected during the period. Do not organise repairs or substitute drivers without following the rental terms.
Our pickup and return checklist helps preserve a clear condition record over a longer stay. The toll guide covers a cost that can otherwise be missed in a simple daily-rate comparison.
A request you can copy
“Please quote the same vehicle from [date and time] to [date and time], collected at [location] and returned at [location]. We expect approximately [miles] in total. Please compare the applicable weekly and monthly options, included mileage, required charges, deposit, early-return terms and extension procedure.”
Common longer-rental questions
Is monthly rental always cheaper?
No single rule answers that for every car and period. Compare written proposals for the same dates rather than multiplying an advertised daily price yourself.
Can I use the luxury-car discount for a Budget Car?
Only if that exact offer is confirmed for the selected vehicle. The Budget Cars page is the starting point for that collection, not a promise that another category's pricing applies.
Does a longer rental include unlimited mileage?
Do not assume it. Obtain the total allowance and excess-mileage rate for the agreed period before choosing the proposal.
